Cornville

Just 15 minutes away from Sedona, and about an 1.5 hours north of Phoenix, sits Cornville, Arizona. You won’t find much corn growing in Cornville, however. Its name was actually a case of mistaken identity! The story goes that the name requested from the post office was “Coaneville” in honor of a local pioneer family and the US Postal Service misspelled the name as “Cornville”.

What you will find is small town America on the banks of the beautiful Oak Creek. It’s elevation of about 3,500 feet makes for comfortable year-round temperatures that are about 15 degrees cooler than the Valley of the Sun in Phoenix and Scottsdale.

Popular with wine lovers, Cornville invites visitors and locals alike to spend their days touring the lovely vineyards along Page Springs Rd, learning about the winemaking process on winery tours, and sampling an array of authentic local Arizona wines in the tasting rooms.

Head outdoors to explore the area’s fish hatcheries, horseback riding by Oak Creek, or playing a round of golf at the Verde Santa Fe Golf Course.

Located in the Verde Santa Fe Community just on the outskirts of Cornville, the Verde Santa Fe Golf Course is an 18-hole course that will take you on a picturesque journey through high desert. You’ll be able to see historic Jerome or the spectacular Mingus Mountain, as well as gorgeous views of the Red Rock Cliffs of Sedona and Black Hills range.
